Introduction and Descriptions
The most foundational component in training our young children is knowing God's Word. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10) My heart is concerned for the needs of my children - not just cognitively, physically, emotionally, and socially - but spiritually! Psalm 119: 9-11 states....
"How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.
I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you."
I have been convicted by the Holy Spirit that I need to work on helping my young children hide God's Word in their hearts. Whether that is through song, oral reading of Scripture, writing the verse, building a cut apart verse, or playing a memory verse game, the goal is the same - developing an armory of verses to guard their hearts and minds that can be taken with them wherever they go. "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him." (Proverbs 30:5) Please pray with me as we embark on this adventure.
Joyful Heart Tune Charts
I have never been very good at memorizing God's Word as I should. However, the verses I
remember most are those that have been put to song, whether intended for a child or in Christian contemporary music. Those are the verses that my heart and mind seem to reflect upon the most.

For several years, I have been working on aligning key Bible verses to familiar children's songs such as 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star', 'Skip To My Lou', and 'London Bridge'. This allows the verse to not only be read, but sung as well. We have found this is most helpful for toddlers just starting to hide God's Word. Of course, our older kids still enjoy it, too! Each Joyful Heart Tune Chart has the Scripture reference, name of the tune used to sing it to, a picture aid, and the verse typed out according to how you would sing it with your child.
Joyful Heart Bible Verse Charts
Each of the Bible Verse Charts were also designed to assist your child in memorizing God's
Word. All of the Joyful Heart Bible Verse Charts contain a picture memory aid, the address of the verse, and has the Scripture typed out. They are not set to a tune.

Joyful Heart Bible Verse Strips
The Bible Verse Strips are meant to be cut apart and rearranged to form the verse. They can be used on the floor or in a pocket chart.

A growing number of verses below also have corresponding copywork sheets for elementary
aged children. These are great for memorizing Scripture as well as for handwriting practice!

Bible Verse Coloring Sheets
Kids enjoy coloring their own sheets (with larger black and white pictures) and reviewing the Bible verses.
Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Suggestions for Use
- Print the charts on 8 1/2 by 11 sheets of regular paper to use in a binder or on the refrigerator. In the past, we have placed each child's newest verse to memorize on the
refrigerator. We have also been storing the tunes in a binder for each child. Our children like to look through their binders and sing their memory verses on a regular
basis. They have been learning them quite fast and have been singing them joyfully since they were a little over two years old. What a joy to our hearts as well! May God be praised.
- Print the charts on plain 4 by 6 index cards. These index cards could then be used in a memory verse file box, placed in a 4 by 6 inch photo album, or hole punched and placed on rings. (We printed ours using the following settings - borderless portrait, 4 by 6, 50%, auto center and auto rotate.)

- Print each chart two times on one plain white 4 by 6 index card, but at half the size. Use these smaller cards to make Scripture Memory review games or to place on rings. (We set our print settings to borderless landscape, 33.3%, and auto rotate only.)

You could use these to play Bible Memory or Go Fish.
Each time a match is made recite the verse or sing the tune!
