Copywork, simply explained, is looking at a model of good writing and using your best penmenship to duplicate it. During copywork, students' attention is drawn to proper letter formation, capitalization, spacing, punctuation, and spelling.  Our youngest students can begin by tracing and writing letters, moving onto words, and then simple sentences.  As they progress, they can write longer sentences.  We have utilized copywork throughout homeschooling.  Our children have copied quotations from famous historical figures, historical facts, a small section from a literature book, and my favorite - Scripture!
