Hello! I came across your blog after brownsing your website. (I was looking at ideas for my own kids.) After reading a little of what you wrote on your blog, I feel like I know you! I felt compelled to write after I read what you wrote last August about the first day of public school, about the fears and doubts you may have about teaching your own kids at home. As an public school teacher myself, with 3 kids in daycare, I wanted to tell you that your website has inspired me to reconsider the decision that I face every school year - whether to raise my own kids or let someone else do it while I work. I have gone back to teaching in the public schools every year so far because of my fears - can I do a good enough job? Do I have enough patience to be with my kids all day, every day? (My boys are 4, 2, and 4 1/2 months - I'm still clinging to the idea that I can raise my kids during the few hours we have together in the evenings.)
I recently read a few parenting books by Kevin Leman, and he suggests that God gave my kids to ME, and your kids to YOU, that we are the best possible people to raise our own children. After seeing the amazing educational ideas on your website, I was even more amazed to see the doubts that you have. For what it is worth, I believe that God has given you everything you need to raise your kids, and then some! Have a blessed day :)

I'm a regular reader of your blog but have never commented until today. I originally found your website while I was preparing to start doing homeschool-type activities with my oldest three year old daughter and loved all the material on your website. Anyway, the point of my post is to say how much i felt convicted in my own life about what you posted...the checkings of the email, the updatings of blogs, the little things that (aaaaah, did you have to point it out so clearly!?!) give me a few minutes of escaping my responsibility to my kids. Thanks for your reflection and openness...I'll start putting my Bible and a children's book next to my computer to help me remember all I'm missing out on when I'm doing all those checks! thanks!

Oh, what a sweet reminder of the truth that God inhabits the praise of His people! We have so much to be grateful for---it should be a natural response from our hearts each and every day!

Very well said!

And congrats on baby #4! What a blessing!

Oh, yes, I am right there with you lately. The feeling of the walls caving in and never coming out of the chaos is so overwhelming lately. Especially in the midst of dealing with children while insulating the attic and partial bathroom remodel the week of dance recital and right before Mike leaves town for a week for work. Finding times of solitude can be so difficult. I will be praying for you (and myself).

Michelle,
Thank you so much for this blog and for hubbard's cupboard! You give me a gentle reminder that where hope is lost in the day there is hope in the Lord. I just found out I am expecting my third baby and while we are very excited I am feeling tired and overwhelmed...a feeling I am sure you can relate to. I just want you to know that your words are an encouragement to me.
Thanks a bunch!

Amen and amen, sister! Thanks for this great reminder to rise up with prayer and praise, even when it seems we don't have time (which is where I find myself most days, these days). Have a terrific day! ~Steph

Michelle, I never knew you had such a wonderful blog. I'm sharing it with the MOPS moms in our summertime newsletter, last of the year. I'm in a new Bible Study and learning so much in His Word. This resource is another place I'll turn for support as mom to my precious little ones. Thanks so much and Praise Jesus for His gifts through you. In his love, Chris, your neighbor
